I recently had the good fortune to meet the famous Annabel Karmel at The Mumprenuer Awards where I was a finalist.
I was so pleased to meet her because when I had my first child, I followed avidly what her recipe books would advise for my little girl. I found her books so engaging and well presented she truly got me out of many nutritional dilemmas for my new born and fast growing toddler.
Prior to her career in infant nutrition Karmel was a talented musician. Her first book was The Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner, published in 1991. It was endorsed by Great Ormond Street Hospital, the UK’s leading children’s hospital. Karmel has since published 37 books on feeding babies, toddlers and families as well as eating in pregnancy and books on cooking with children.
Now Annabel Karmel writes regularly for national newspapers and also contributes to Practical Parenting & Pregnancy, Prima Baby, BBC Good Food, Baby London, Surrey, Hampshire and Tesco’s Baby Club. She appears frequently on radio and television, and completed a series on the Richard & Judy Show, as the Foodie Godmother where she travelled around the country solving the problems of fussy eaters. She also filmed a 10 part series with Sky Active called Mummy That’s Yummy. In 2011 she aired her TV show Annabel’s Kitchen, commissioned for CITV, with major sponsors being Fairy Liquid and Procter and Gamble.
So as you can imagine, I was as proud as punch to actually get to say hello and “Thank you” to her in person!
